Harley-Davidson Etc. Dealbook · 09/08/2006
Harley-Davidson announced that it will buy most of the assets of Castalloy, “its Australian supplier of cast motorcycle wheels and hubs,” which is operating “in voluntary administration…as part of the insolvency of Ion Automotive.”
Separately, Goodyear said it would “sell its global tire fabric operations to Hyosung Corporation,” a Korean conglomerate. Goodyear expects to receive about $80 million in the deal and to reap “significant cost savings and improved cash flow” as a result. It expects to buy between $350 million and $400 million in materials from Hyosung in the first year after the sale.
