Want to try on your new wheels… virtually? See which rims you like best on your make and model? Check out the wheels with different color bodies? Well, at WheelEnvizio.com—the new web site of American Tire Distributors—you can do just that. Or at least so says ATD.
“Selecting a new set of custom wheels is a highly involved process for a consumer,” said Ron Sinclair, ATD’s vice-president of marketing, in a statement. “WheelEnvizio.com provides a level of graphics and functionality unsurpassed in the industry to help consumer accurately envision the new wheels on their vehicle.”
According to the company’s statement, the site uses “state-of-the-art graphics and advanced vehicle modeling technology”—all of which, according to a notice on the home page, apparently relies on something called the “Viewpoint plugin.” So you have to be willing to work a bit—download and install the plugin—if you want to check out your scratched-up, decade-old Corolla with a gleaming new set of titanium rims.
