Yokohama Tires Chosen for FIA WTCC · 07/26/2006
Japan-based Yokohama Rubber will supply "control tires" bearing the Advan brand for the 2007 FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) World Touring Car Championship, for the second year in a row.
As distinct from the well-known Formula 1 circuit, which features highly specialized, purpose-built racing cars, WTCC cars are based on street vehicles modified to meet strict WTCC rules, which limit engine size and bar such features as antilock brakes. The WTCC’s 2006 calendar includes races in Italy, France, Great Britain, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Spain, and Macau.
Yokohama’s Advan line also includes retail high-performance tires for sports cars, sedans, and SUVs.
